86Box meldet immer "No ROMs found."

    Ich bin durch den Nachbar-Thread auf 86Box aufmerksam geworden. Ich kannte das gar nicht und habe bisher immer Virtual Box verwendet.


    Ich habe jetzt mal versucht, mit 86Box einen 486er oder einen XT einzurichten. Ich kann mit 86Manager eine Maschine zufügen, aber wenn ich auf "Configure" klicke, kommt immer die Meldung "No ROMs found". Dabei habe ich der Maschine doch noch gar kein ROM zugeordnet?


    Das aktuelle ROM-Set habe ich im roms-Verzeichnis abgelegt.


    Woher will das Programm wissen, welches ROM ich für meine virtuelle Maschine verwenden möchte? Ich kapiere das Konzept nicht. :nixwiss:

    Hallo Detlef, habe 86box jetzt auch erstmals ausprobiert und exakt dieselbe Fehlermeldung bekommen. Nach einem Blick in die frisch erstellte 86Box.cfg gehe ich davon aus, das beim Start ein IBM mit 640kB RAM und einer CGA-Grafikkarte emuliert werden soll. Wo kopierst du denn die ROMS hin?

    Habe die .cfg mal angehängt.

    So eine Config-Datei finde ich bei mir nicht. Nur einen leeren Ordner mit dem Namen der Maschine, die ich angelegt habe.


    Aus der kryptischen Anleitung:


    You need to download the romset from `here <https://github.com/86Box/roms/releases/latest>`_, create a subfolder named ``roms`` in the folder where ``86Box.exe`` is located, and extract it there.


    Also habe ich unterhalb des Programmordners einen "roms"-Ordner angelegt und das Romset dorthin kopiert.


    Die Anleitung ist unterirdisch. Fast wie eine Linux man-page.

    Ich denke, ich packe die Software mal wieder weg. Das Leben ist zu kurz für unintuitive Software. :mrgreen:

    Nachtrag: Hier startet das Programm, ich habe nun sogar einen 286er Siemens PCD 2L ausgewählt, es passiert aber nichts weiter. Der Bildschirm blribt im Fenster schwarz und ich werde aufgefordert, "zu klicken" um die Maus zu fangen -weiß gar nicht was das soll. :neinnein:

    den 86Box habe ich jetzt nicht probiert. Da er aber laut Projektaussage auf dem PCem basiert -> Im Hauptverzeichnis von PCem gibt es das Unterverzeichnis "roms" Dort liegen die ROMS für die "Karten" (e.g. "mda.rom" oder "ibm_6277356_ega_card_u44_27128.bin" für MDA oder EGA Grafik).

    Dort existierenden dann weiterhin eigene Unterverzeichnisse für die expliziten Rechner wie z.B. "ibmpc". Das wäre dann der 5150. In das Verzeichnis müssen dann die ROMS der zu emulierenden Maschine. Für den 5150 dann -> "basicc11.f6" + "basicc11.f8" + "basicc11.fa" + "basicc11.fc" + "pc102782.bin".


    Hast Du mal geschaut ob es dieses Verzeichnis ("roms") gibt und dort auch ROM Images vorhanden sind ?

    Mist, nein! Habe ich nicht. Ich habe gerade nochmal nachgeschaut und roms ist leer. Dabei war ich mir 100%ig sicher, dass ich das Rom-Set da reinkopiert habe. Ok, jetzt kann ich Configure aufrufen und eine Maschine konfigurieren. Alles funktioniert jetzt so, wie ich es erwartet habe.

    Hallo mgutzeit, kann man die ROMS, die bei 86Box erwähnt werden auch bei PCem benutzen?

    Bei PCem gibt es nur das Verzeichnis „Roms“ und dort die Unterverzeichnisse für die Maschinen…. Spezielle Verzeichnisse für Peripherie habe ich noch nicht gesehen. Die roms von PCem sind ja die Original ROMs. Und Da 86box auf PCem basiert sollten alle roms für beides nutzbar sein… Versucht habe ich es nicht

    Jetzt ja. ;)


    Jetzt müsste ich nur noch das IPX-Protokoll über den ncap-Netzwerktreiber hinbekommen. Dann wäre alles perfekt.

    IPX funktioniert! Jedenfalls so halb. Zu einem externen Rechner, aber leider noch nicht zu Virtual Box auf der gleichen Maschine. Ich kommte also noch nicht auf meinen Novell-Server, der unter Virtual Box läuft. Aber das wird man auch noch irgendwie hinbekommen.


    86Box ist schon klasse, weil man da rein virtuell bestimmte Hardware-Konfigurationen und auch ROM-Images ausprobieren kann.

    Ging beim PCEm doch auch. Wo ist jetzt der Unterschied vom PCEm zur 86Box? Uebersehe ich was?

    Ich vergleiche nicht zu PCem sondern zu Virtual Box und DOSBox.

    Das ist schon komisch. Ich habe hier 4 virtuelle Maschinen laufen, auf denen IPX konfiguriert ist. Zweimal 86Box und zweimal Virtual Box. Dazu noch ein realer 286er. Das IPX-Testprogramm zeigt an, dass die beiden 86Box Maschinen alle anderen IPX-Rechner sehen, der reale 286er sieht auch alle IPX-Rechner. Nur die beiden Virtual Box Maschinen sehen die 86Box Maschinen nicht. :grübel:


    Das ist blöd, denn so können die 86Box Maschinen meinen Novell-Server, der unter Virtual Box läuft, nicht erreichen. Das wäre einfach so perfekt, wenn das funktionieren würde.

    Nur so als Information: Von 86Box gibt es nun die Version 3.0 mit einigen Veränderungen.
