Dear all,
I'm trying to restore a GRiDCASE 1520 286 laptop and was wondering if someone had a working one at hand.
This is the LCD version.
The problem is that, none of the storage media controllers seem to work, also the drives are faulty.
I do have an Epson Q150A that has compatible drives and matching OMTI HDC for hard sectored JVC-JD3824 ( 26 pin RLL )
hard disks. I used it to do cross checks to determine that both drives and controllers are nonoperational.
Floppy controller is FDC72C65, there might be a MOSFET at fault at the interface card, a Motorola 750 ( ? not sure what type that should be ).
I have cross checked the floppy drive with Greaseweazle, and the stepper controller is dead, the head can't seek.
But this is the less concerning problem as the laptop won't seek a working drive either.
I'll try to boot the machine from an application ROM socket later next week. I do have two additional JVC hard drives,
so it would be ideal to fix the HDC, or at least the FDC.
As GRiD was one of the first stealth startups, I would guess it is impossible to find schematics, but I might be badly informed.
Also if someone has access to GRID-OS ROM binaries or other application ROM contents I would be happy to try them.
Thank you in advance,
nils
