Running FreeDOS (and applications) on a CBM II

  • Hello everyone,

Michal Pleban presented the 8088 card for the CBM-II at the Classic Computing a few years ago. Last year he gave an update at the RETROpulsiv. In the meantime his reverse-engineered and extended card is available at http://www.cbm-ii.com.

At the RETROpulsiv 15.1 last Saturday I displayed my CBM 710 with Michal's card and the latest firmware, which Michal is very actively developing.

    The technical specs are impressive:

    - NEC V20 with 12 MHz

    - 1 MByte RAM (also usable on the CBM side)

    - SD card slot as hard disk

    - compatible with MS-DOS 6.22, FreeDOS, but also with the original MS-DOS 1.25, which C= had specially developed by M$ at that time.

    - and much more.

Here are some screenshots, among others of Norton Commander, Word 5.5, Wordstar 4 and Turbo-Pascal 7.1 on my CBM 710.

I would say: This is GREAT!!!
