Hello Reynold,
Where are you based as I have been trying to get hold of original disks and looking for more information on how to create some or even a person willing to create a set of disks. Also details of the drive for any imaging software.
Because I have a floppy that seems to be very basic (CP/M Runtime) - can start CP/M but limited programs on it.
Regards

Hello All,
I would like to build up the software on the TA/Matmos PC. I have a FD1 drive - loads of discs but no software except a very basic system disc. Which has PIP and PCTRANS etc.
I do not have a drive to hook up to a PC or the know-how yet of how to do that.. So the idea is to connect via serial cable and use PCTRANS or PIP until Kermit is transferred over:
1) The manual only has one mention of PCTRANS - no instructions on how to use it - does anyone have any information please.
2) What software on a windows PC is best used?
3) Disk images in other forum threads - how can I open them on a PC to access the files individually for transfer?
I aim to document this - because it seems this type of information / knowledge is lacking.
Please help all.
Thank you
Alan

Hello
Back in Jan I managed to replace the cartridge slot and totally recap the whole machine including the PSU.
This solved all the issues and now looking forward to using it for many years.

Hello Tony,
Thank you - I messaged you yesterday. Please let me know if you have it.
Thanks

Hello,
I have been keeping an eye out for a suitable monitor for my Alphatronic PC (matmos here in UK) as I have an external RF module.. but the picture is bad..
So looking at the RGB connector pins: 1 - 12v, 2 GND, 3 BSTCLK, 4 HSYNC, 5 VSYNC, 6 Red, 7 Green and 8 Blue
So trying to match a CRT is getting harder to find, especially with H/VSync's. So is there a converter on the market that would change it to SCART / VGA / Composite?

I've decided to go with the slightly smaller type of Capacitor as long as it stays the same 3300uF and 35V or slightly higher should be ok - due to modern manufacturing methods.
-
and this is really a 35V? - that seems to be 350V ?
3300µF / 35V (or better higher - 50V )
Hello - yes very sure... I think that is why it's hard to find that unique size
-
Sadly that is a link for a 10v not 35v and it's quite small. I'm talking about this big black part. 30mm x 25mm
-
I have been able to source all the normal capacitors, but one I'm finding hard to source is within the PSU PCB - C303 a 3300uF 35V - because the original is 3cm width x 2.5cm height.
Desire to keep it like for like or as close as to the original. So if you know please reply with links to the part.....

Hobi , thank you. I have sorted out the issue by slotting a piece of card into the slot.
Because most of all the pins in the ROM connector slot was touching the opposite side, that stopped the machine from booting into Microsoft BASIC.
Does anyone know where I can get a new H421121-15 ROM slot connector from?

Hello Hobi
I have attached the photo of the socket with the pin damage.
Also a few more photo's of the machine turned on without a rom in the slot and one with a rom in the slot.
Hopefully pictures speak a thousand words.

rfka01 : thank you - it's one I did not get ( but got the original Users Manual + Adv User manaul + CP/M manual)

Hello
I have just got a TA Alphatronic PC with FD drive and need an English version of the Service Manual - all that I have found at the moment is in German.
Also looking at the rom slot I notice several connections do not meet up - will this have an affect on the machine or are they all suppose to have a gap between them. Therefore looking for that part.
Is anyone able to help out or point me to the Manual and connector?
Thank you
Alan
